Requirements

The qualifications for a daily substitute Paraprofessional (Teacher Assistant): minimum high school diploma; effective written and oral expression; ability to attend to students’ daily living needs when required (bodily fluids, diapering, toileting, grooming); frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, climbing stairs/steps, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, squatting; experience working with children beneficial.  Individuals who are patient, caring, reliable, and willing to take coaching and support from the classroom team are encouraged to apply.

 
 
Description

The Colonial IU 20 is currently seeking individuals to serve as daily substitute Paraprofessionals (Teacher Assistants) in their special education programs located throughout Monroe and Northampton Counties. Substitutes may elect to choose the types of programs and locations to in which to work.

This is a wonderful opportunity for applicants to learn more about IU programs and gain valuable experience.  College students are encouraged to apply and may substitute during college breaks.

Substitutes do not have to be available every day of the week.  We will work with your availability.


 
 
Application Procedure

Upon application, you will be contacted by the Recruitment Office to schedule an interview.

Selected candidates for IU20 positions will be required to produce state mandated background clearances and fraud checks as part of the employment onboarding process. All recommendations for hire shall be contingent upon receipt of acceptable clearances and fraud checks. The clearances and checks will be treated confidentially.
