Description

School Psychologist for the Nonpublic School Services Program serving locations as assigned within the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 servicing area.

JOB GOAL: To provide a comprehensive support system to the non­public school stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, principals and other administrative staff. The delivery of these services is through the Student Intervention Team, collaboration, assessment, consultation, counseling, and program implementation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Function as a member of the Student Intervention Team (SIT) in each nonpublic school assigned and primarily fulfill the role of the facilitator and case manager.

2. Participate in nonpublic school Data Meetings.

3. Provide psychological services in a collaborative consultation format to those nonpublic schools not functioning under the SIT process.

4. Provide crisis prevention and response services to public and nonpublic schools following the PREPaRE curriculum.

5. Assess students to determine intellectual, academic, social and emotional behavioral functioning and needs to aid in nonpublic educational programming.

6. Provide comprehensive evaluations via contracted services for the identification and development of educational needs of students.

7. Attend district Multidisciplinary Team Meetings and Individualized Educational Plan Meetings when pertaining to nonpublic students.

8. Interpret the results of district and private evaluations for teachers, principals, and parents.

9. Conduct or co-facilitate groups in the nonpublic schools in response to an identified need(s) and/or specified agreement(s). 

10. Provide counseling support and behavior management consultations in specific situations.

11. Participate in CIU 20 and staff meetings, councils, committees, conferences, professional development training, and/or special sessions.

12. Collaborate and act as a resource person with the school psychologist committee chair, other NPSS staff, nonpublic staff, and administrative personnel. 

13. Analyze data from assessments administered by the nonpublic schools and/or NPSS staff.

14. Provide professional development training to nonpublic school staff and NPSS staff.

15. Recommend and utilize community resources in the facilitation of services for nonpublic students and/or families.

16. Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs at the IU and nonpublic school levels.

17. Coordinate services with other IU programs.

18. Assume responsibility for the maintenance and organization of materials, equipment, and workspace.

19. Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.

20. Maintain best practices within the field of school psychology. 

 

 

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Promote a positive image of the Intermediate Unit, nonpublic schools, and school districts.

2. Demonstrate the willingness to voluntarily or when assigned, assist other employees with their work.

3. Respect the culture of the nonpublic school including its values, beliefs, and traditions.
