QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Behavioral Specialist (i.e. active Licensed Behavioral Specialist credential) with a Master’s Level Degree in a recognized Mental Health Clinical Discipline (i.e. Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, etc.) or Special Education and possess a Pennsylvania License in one of the following disciplines: Clinical Psychology, Social Worker, Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapy and Behavior Specialist, Applied Behavior Analysis and/or the post Master’s certification in Applied Behavior Analysis. 

Master’s Degree in a recognized related Mental Health clinical discipline, educational classroom experience. Must be a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Social Worker, or Licensed Professional Counselor; Or must possess a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field with a minimum of 5 years experience with At-Risk children and adolescents. Extensive knowledge in the field of Autism and Verbal Behavior recommended.

Description
Management Assistant for Clinical Support Services within the Therapeutic Emotional Support Program.

JOB GOAL: To design, implement, and oversee interventions that will focus on helping students learn to respond to their daily environment in a practical and productive manner. Emphasis will be placed on students’ current needs, functions, and support systems, as they relate to educational needs. To provide clinical and administrative supervision, leadership, and support to classroom staff. To provide staff evaluations and progress reports to the Treatment Coordinator of Therapeutic Emotional Support and the Level III Supervisor of Clinical Support as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. To consult in the development, implementation, and evaluation of IEPs, behavioral plans, and individual counseling needs; To facilitate group counseling sessions in classrooms; To provide students with individual counseling sessions; functional behavioral assessments (FBA) will be provided as needed. 

2. To direct and supervise activities implemented by the Mental Health Worker; To consult and supervise classroom management strategies to the staff; To consult, direct and supervise the implementation of behavior management plans; To consult, provide and direct crisis intervention and stabilization strategies on an immediate need basis; To consult and coordinate with the staff about the student’s emotional/personal needs and educational strategies/approaches; To generate and direct appropriate intervention strategies for students in the Therapeutic Emotional Support classes; To maintain regular contact with appropriate agencies, school district, administration and staff. 

3. Be part of a collaborative team to provide services from least restrictive to most restrictive placements; To contribute towards the development and maintenance of an environment, which is non-threatening, safe, nurturing, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and welcomed.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. To complete all required paperwork in accordance with Department of Human Services and CIU 20 standards. 

2. To consult with staff in developing and maintaining crisis plans for all students; To assist the staff in developing transitional plans; To assist staff in developing strategies to include students back into regular education. 

3. To prepare for and participate in staff training sessions; to attend and advocate for students within classroom settings through the various meetings (Partial Hospitalization Program, CAASP, Interagency, Probation, Children and Youth, etc). 

4. To perform other duties as directed by supervisory staff.

If you are recommended as a finalist for a position, you will need to have all credentials (3 Clearances, School Personnel Health Record) submitted in order to be recommended to the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 Board of Directors for hire. This will include completing an Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 and showing originals of documents you wish to submit to establish employment identity and work authorization. This will be handled through the Recruitment Office.

This form is not required for you to be an active candidate. Please DO NOT have the form completed unless you are directed by a recommending administrator or the Human Resources Office.


If you are recommended as a finalist for a position, you will be required to have a pre-employment medical examination – physical and tuberculosis (TB) test. All results (physical and TB) must be recorded on the School Personnel Health Record. No other forms are acceptable. The physical and TB are at your own expense. If the physical is performed by a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, the Physician must also sign; the TB test may be done by a physician or licensed health care provider. All areas of the physical and TB test must be completed, signed, and properly dated.


Physical and TB results within the last three months of receipt will be accepted if they are recorded on the School Personnel Health Record. Dates of results longer than three months of our receipt will not be accepted.

Selected candidates for IU20 positions will be required to produce state mandated background clearances and fraud checks as part of the employment onboarding process. All recommendations for hire shall be contingent upon receipt of acceptable clearances and fraud checks. The clearances and checks will be treated confidentially.
