Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience, Special Education preferred
MA degree and 3+ years relevant experience preferred
Thorough knowledge of SEL competencies, research, curriculum, strategies, and learning and instruction frameworks
Knowledge of positive behavioral supports, de-escalation strategies, and trauma-informed practices
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent writing, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Literacy in Google Suites and use of the internet.

Multi-Tiered System Support (MTSS) Interventionist supporting all programs at Colonial Academy. Position beginning with the start of the 2025-2026 School Year. (Please note that this is the same position listed in the Mental Health Services category. Applicants need only apply to one or the other.)
As an MTSS Interventionist, you will support the development and implementation of a solid MTSS program for Tier 1, Tier II, and Tier III models for the school building, as well as assist teachers in providing Tier II and Tier III interventions for students who need more intensive levels of support for Social, Emotional, and Academics. This will be accomplished by working alongside school staff and serving as a liaison between the school, families, and community organizations.
Job Goal:
Provide direct intervention and progress monitoring for students who need support in reading, math, behavior, and social-emotional learning (SEL). To assist the principal in promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school.
Essential Duties and Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists the principal in the general administration of the School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports Program as directed.
- Works closely with the Principal, Coordinator of Special Education, CA Staff, and district liaison to promote a positive learning environment for all students.
- Assists the principal with the operations of the MTSS program.
- Assists the principal in maintaining, reviewing, and enforcing student behavior plans.
- Assists the principal in the selection and assignment training of behavior support plans, MTSS, and classroom management.
- Assists with the building-level Induction program.
- Works with the IEP/SAP Teams (as appropriate) on a regular basis.
- Assists the principal in the development and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan at the school.
- Confers with families, teachers, counselors, and support service personnel regarding student behavior, needs, or concerns.
- Under general supervision, coordinate academic and social-emotional learning (MTSS) supports for students, as well as SEL and academic intervention professional development for staff.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, community members, and state organizations in written and oral presentations.
- Assist Colonial Academy staff with the identification of students who need additional (moderate/Tier II or intensive/Tier III) MTSS support.
- Ability to provide Tier II and/or Tier III MTSS interventions directly or through consultation to other educators and support staff.
- Attends staff meetings as assigned
- Serves on the MTSS and School Climate Committees
- Provide academic and social-emotional learning instruction throughout the school day, giving students the opportunity to learn and practice SEL and academic skills.
- Meet with the administrative team weekly to review Tier II and Tier III student growth
- Train staff in using data to problem solve and identify interventions to support students’ SEL and academic growth.
- Participate in joint planning and case management with community agencies that support students’ MTSS abilities (C&Y, Probation, Recovery Revolution, LEA, etc.).
- Conduct staff and family/community education on MTSS and behavior management.
- Conduct meetings with the students, families, district, and IEP meetings.
- Maintain professional practice and development, staying current with recent approaches to improving SEL and academics for students, staff, and families.
- Gather, track, and analyze data on student progress and present to building administrators and staff.
- Work independently, with minimal supervision and guidance, in performing all assigned responsibilities in an efficient and correct manner.
