Masters degree,valid Pennsylvania Instructional certificate with a minimum of five years experience and expertise in the initiative area. A teaching certificate in special education is highly recommended. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in providing staff development to varied adult audiences preferred. Technology proficiency with Google Applications and PowerPoint knowledge necessary.

ANTCIPATED OPENING - The Training Consultant(s) primary role is to provide information, training and technical assistance regarding evidence based best practices related to their assigned initiative area to improve learning opportunities for students. The consultant offers school professionals experiences with standards-aligned, special education best practices, culturally responsive and high quality core instruction, universal screening, data-based decision-making, tiered services, research skills, etc.
Ten month position of which four working days are scheduled in the summer as per district service requests. Required to provide services to educators in Northampton, Monroe, and Pike counties. Position requires flexible schedule and some overnight travel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide training and technical assistance for LEAs, agencies and parents involved in statewide special education initiatives, or as required by federal and state regulations, or to meet local needs, in the form of guided practice and evaluation of interventions. 2. Facilitate training and technical assistance, coaching, consultation, etc. in the area of curriculum adaptations, Progress Monitoring, PA Core Standards, Alternate Eligible Content, PSSA, Keystones, PASA, and other assessment areas as assigned. 3. Assist school districts, charters and agencies in developing expertise related to inclusionary practices in school-age programs utilizing effective instruction and practices, to accommodate students with special needs and students with diverse backgrounds. 4. Facilitate training and technical assistance for LEAs by integrating research-based strategies into practice. 5. Participate in PDE/PaTTAN sponsored training sessions, job alike networking and planning meetings; implement and disseminate related materials and information. 6. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Act, Chapters 4,14,15,16 of the School Code and an understanding of how these impact the provision of special education services. 7. Maintain a steady response to unpredictable situations, ability to remain calm and productive during stressful situations. Demonstrate independent judgement, discretion and confidentiality.
