Requirements |
|
|
Education
- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, Exercise Science, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- Previous basketball coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred.
- Experience working with middle or high school student-athletes preferred.
Knowledge Base
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and player development.
- Understanding of PIAA rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.
- Commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and positively influence student-athletes.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, athletic administration, parents, and school staff.
- Commitment to sportsmanship, integrity, and character development.
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.
Certifications & Clearances
- Valid Pennsylvania Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 clearances.
- Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure.
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
- Completion of required PIAA and/or NFHS coaching education and training (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assisting with practice planning, skill development, and game preparation.
- Knowledge of basketball video analysis software (Hudl or similar) is preferred.
- Willingness to assist with offseason workouts, summer camps, youth programs, and player development.
- Ability to support the growth and development of the girls basketball program across all grade levels.

Description |
|
|
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the varsity girls basketball program.
- Help plan and conduct practices, game preparation, and skill development activities.
- Provide instruction in basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and individual player development.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, respect, and positive character development.
- Support the academic progress, attendance, and eligibility of student-athletes.
- Ensure compliance with school district policies and PIAA rules and regulations.
- Assist with organizing team events, including practices, contests, camps, and offseason activities.
- Help maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents/guardians, coaching staff, athletic administration, and school personnel.
- Assist with the care, inventory, and organization of team equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
- Serve as a positive role model and represent the Moshannon Valley School District in a professional manner.
- Support the overall growth and success of the girls basketball program, including youth development and community engagement.

Required clearances, Mandated Reporter Training, a pre-employment physical examination, and TB test must be completed upon hire.
