SUMMER SCHOOL TEACHER FOR TITLE V1 PROGRAM - 6/5/23 - 6/25/23

Job Summary

The job of Hourly Teacher/Title VI Summer Enrichment is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for the Title VI Summer Enrichment program. Title VI Summer Enrichment was designed to assist the Native American student demographic; provide cultural knowledge; leadership; management, and coordination of Title VI Summer Enrichment lessons and activities; collaborating with the Title VI Program Coordinator and Native American community; Collaborating with other District personnel; maintaining student records; and serving as a resource to other school personnel requiring assistance with students in the Title VI Summer Enrichment program. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Provides instruction and support to Native American students for the 2023 Summer Enrichment Program, 4 hour/day, which is held June 5-7, 12-14, 19-21, 26-28, 2023. This job reports to the Director of Student Services and Title VI Program Coordinator. 

Essential Functions

 

               Collaborates with a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. principal, teachers, district administration, parents, students, community organizations, etc.) for the purpose of implementing, maintaining, and providing continuity of services to meet school-wide goals.

               Coordinates and implements the assessment and evaluation process for the site center for the purpose of ensuring that programs are meeting the goals of supporting student learning.

               Develops, implements, and manages District-wide Title VI Summer Enrichment program and services (e.g. academic support and remediation, youth development and enrichment, and family education, etc.) for the purpose of improving student achievement and family involvement.

               Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. attendance rosters, financial information, required reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference, complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.

               Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, professional development, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

               Participates in the organization of staff training for the purpose of preparing staff for their program responsibilities.

               Plans and implements a continuum of school-based programs and services for the purpose of addressing student and family needs, including academic support programs, youth development and enrichment, and family/community education and support services.

               Prepares a variety of program-mandated reports for the purpose of ensuring ongoing funding by complying with district and/or program requirements.

               Presents information to District and community groups for the purpose of promoting Title VI programs, gaining feedback, and complying with established internal controls.

                     Tracks hours worked, teaching schedule as well as program purchases and expenditures for the purpose of monitoring time and program costs

 

Minimum Job Requirements

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks using existing skills. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing conflict resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; instructing on Native American beadwork and other Native American arts and crafts, instructing on Native American literature that can be taught in lesson plans, planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: knowledge of Native Americans in STEM, concepts of grammar and punctuation; community resources; district policies and procedures; and issues relating to Native American at-risk youth.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; Collaborates with other instructional staff (e.g. teachers, assistants, administration, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating student instruction and maximizing student achievement. Implements instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts. Maintains a variety of electronic and written records (e.g. progress reports, program evaluations, attendance, etc.) for the purpose of tracking student progress and providing documentation for programs and interventions. Maintains a safe and orderly classroom for the purpose of maximizing student achievement. Monitors individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment.
