Work EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. Director of Assessment Purpose StatementThe job of Director of Assessment is done for the purpose/s of complying with district, state, and national assessment requirements for all students; coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and reporting the growth and progress of student achievement; gathering, organizing, and disseminating district data concerning assessment results, student behavior, and incidents; and program evaluation. The Director is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the assessment, data, and research work in the district, including overseeing committee processes of curriculum program evaluation and compliance with state law and district policy requirements. This job reports to Asst. Supt. of Teaching and Learning. Essential FunctionsAttends district principal's meetings and other meetings as assigned for the purpose of collaborating with district and school administrators and keeping up to date on regular operations of the district.
Guides and supports a district-wide application of state and federal assessments.
Shares Data from state assessments in formats that can be read and understood by administrators, teachers, and parents. Make sure important data is available on the district webpage.
Ensures ethics training is completed district-wide, collect and store ethics training forms for future reference, investigate possible ethics violations, and report investigation results to the HR department and USBE when necessary.
Designs program evaluations, supports the implementation thereof, and prepares reports/presentations at the completion of program evaluations.
Keeps district web page for assessment, data, and research up to date with forms and information that is time sensitive.
Coordinates with Teaching & Learning staff to accomplish department tasks and goals.
Represents the district at state assessment director meetings and Utah Association of Assessment Directors meetings and reports news related to assessment to the district. Shares important information obtained in these meetings with district personnel.
Collaborates with technology personnel to ensure that assessment results are properly recorded on student transcripts when necessary. Shares assessment data with district staff.
Supports research requests and district surveying.
Performs statistical analysis of various data sets.
Coordinates with building administrators for the purpose of understanding individual, department, or grade level, and school needs.
Gathers, organizes, and shares appropriate data for the purpose of setting priorities, adjusting resources, and tracking progress toward goals.
Maintains professional expectations associated with leadership roles in Provo City School District for the purpose of earning trust with district and school staff and the community, and to promote the safe and orderly operations of the Teaching and Learning Department.
Meets with the direct supervisor regularly for the purpose of planning, coordinating, and advancing the goals of the department.
Oversees budgets and financial transactions for the purpose of compliance with all federal, state, and local guidelines.
Performs all other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the safe and orderly operations of the Provo City School District and its programs.
Reports to the Provo City School District Board of Education, Utah State Board of Education, and other groups or individuals for the purpose of celebrating successes and sharing progress toward goals.
Supervises and evaluates assigned staff members for the purpose of ensuring staff meets state and district standards. |
