MARCHING BAND DIRECTOR

Job Summary:

This is a stipend position.

The Marching Band Director operates under the purview of the Timpview High School Band Director.

The Marching Band Director is responsible for overseeing the Marching Band, the Winterguard, the Winter Drumline Competitive and Spring Percussion seasons as well as the off-season preparations for each.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a degree in instrumental education or equivalent professional experience.

Candidates must be well acquainted with marching band, winterguard, and winter drumline instruction and rehearsal protocols.

Candidates with drum corps experience are given preference.

Candidates must have demonstrable abilities in working positively with school administration, marching staff, parents, and students.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and oversee all pre-season preparations for the marching band.  This includes all personnel and logistical aspects of the program (i.e. health and well-being of students and staff, transportation, lodging, supervision, fundraising, recruitment, and equipment maintenance.)

Run season rehearsals and supervise student performances of the Timpview Marching Band.

Develops collaborative rehearsal plans with the marching band staff.

Collaborate with the Color Guard Director to coordinate and oversee all pre-season preparations for the Timpview Winterguard.

Collaborate with the Winter Drumline Director to coordinate and oversee all pre-season preparations for the Timpview Winter Drumline.

Communicate relevant Marching Band, Winterguard, and Winter Drumline program information with students, parents, and school administration.

Timelines:

November - February:  Preparation for Marching Season

March-May:  Pre-season rehearsals

June:  Parade Season

June - November:  Preparation for Winterguard Season and Winter Drumline Season

July - November:  Competitive Marching Season

November - April:  Winterguard and Winter Drumline Competitive Season
