|
DEBATE HEAD COACH: We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and passionate individual to serve as a part-time speech and debate coach for our high school team. The ideal candidate will have a background in speech and debate, strong communication skills, and the ability to inspire and guide students to succeed in competitive speech and debate tournaments. The coach will work with students to develop their public speaking and critical thinking skills and will help prepare them for competitions. The coach will also be responsible for coordinating team logistics, such as scheduling practices and competition attendance details.
Responsibilities: Work with Timpview’s debate teacher to lead and manage the high school speech and debate team. Plan and lead weekly team meetings and practices. Prepare students for speech and debate competitions by coaching them on delivery, argumentation, and research techniques. Provide individualized coaching and feedback to students to help them improve their skills and confidence. Coordinate team logistics, including scheduling practices and arranging transportation to competitions. Attend and coach students at local and regional speech and debate competitions. Attend and participate in speech and debate association meetings and events. (1-2 a year) Manage team volunteer judges. Communicate with students, parents, and school administration about team activities and progress. Foster a positive team culture and support team members in their personal and academic growth. |
