Utah State Hospital Campus - Oak Springs School Site Youth In Custody (YIC)

Per Year, Part-Time Non-Benefitted Position 29 Hours Weekly, Monday-Friday

 

Experience:   Job-related experience is required.

Education:     High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Certificates and Licenses

Has completed 48 units of college-level coursework, or an Associate’s Degree, or a Passing score on the Praxis Para-pro exam.

Responsibilities include:

 

·   Working under limited supervision and following established protocols

·   Supporting instruction and student engagement

·   De-escalating and supervising transitions

·   Administering CBMs and BASC assessments

·   Monitoring student attendance and communicating absences

·   Supporting IEP/504 compliance and Check & Connect reporting

·   Submitting required data for hospital and district partners

·   Serving as substitute coverage for the classroom teacher

·   Tracking intervention fidelity across Tier 1-3 systems

·   Collecting and reporting academic and behavioral data

 

 Essential Functions:

 

·   Reinforce academic instruction and classroom expectations under teacher direction.

·   Provide real-time behavioral prompts and emotional regulation support.

·   Supervise and support student transitions between classes and services.

·   Deliver Tier 1–3 intervention supports and monitor fidelity of implementation.

·   Collect and enter data for IEPs, 504s, hospital treatment reports, and MTSS documentation.

·   Administer Curriculum-Based Measures (CBMs) and behavioral assessments (e.g., BASC).

·   Support classroom safety through de-escalation techniques and crisis response.

·   Prepare classroom materials and assist with lesson delivery.

·   Communicate absences and attendance issues to the Building Leadership Team (BLT).

·   Substitute in the absence of the teacher to maintain instructional continuity.

·   Participate in weekly progress reviews, report compilation, and cross-agency coordination.

·   Support students with accessing Chromebooks, projectors, and instructional technology.

·   Uphold confidentiality and district policies in compliance with student rights and program goals.

Instructional Assistant 4/General

 

Purpose Statement: The job of Inst Assistant 4/General is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics:
 - Plans, prepares, and delivers instruction under the supervisor’s or classroom teacher’s direction.
   This job reports to the Site Administrator.

 

Qualifications:

 

Skills:

Perform multiple tasks that require upgrading skills to meet changing job conditions occasionally.

Specific skill-based competencies: adapting to changing work priorities; applying pertinent laws,

codes, policies, and/or regulations; coordinating activities with other schools, districts, and/or

agencies; facilitating department goals; and organizing and communicating information and

concepts.

 

KNOWLEDGE

Previous experience is preferred but not required.

Perform all levels of secondary math.

Perform algebra and/or geometry; read various manuals; write documents following prescribed formats;/present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies are required to perform the job’s functions satisfactorily, including knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assignment subjects; pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; and relevant professional standards and practices.

 

ABILITY

Schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others, work with data utilizing defined and similar processes, and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with diverse individuals, work with similar data types, and utilize specific, job-related equipment.

 

Problem-solving:

Identify issues and create action plans. Data problem-solving may require independent interpretation, and problem-solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability-based competencies required to perform the job satisfactorily include communicating with persons of varied educational and cultural backgrounds, meeting deadlines and schedules, providing leadership, direction, and team building, as well as setting priorities.

 

Work Environment:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 30% walking, and 40% standing. It is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard-free environment.
