Essential Duties
As a CTE Secondary Maker/Media Teacher, you will provide educational services in these areas of instruction in project-based, technology-rich environments to develop student skills in areas such as digital media, drone piloting, 3D printing, laser etching, circuit design, and other maker-space technologies. The teacher supports the instructional process by supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction; collaborating with staff and administration; and communicating with parents or guardians regarding student progress.

As a CTE Secondary Maker/Meia Teacher, you will provide educational services in these areas of instruction in project-based, technology-rich environments to develop student skills in areas such as:
- Multimedia Endorsement (for media, marketing, 3D printing, laser etching)
- Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Endorsement (for drone curriculum)
- Aviation–Flight Endorsement (for flight theory if applicable)
- Manufacturing, Electronics, or Engineering Technology (for circuit design or fabrication topics)
- Effective in managing complex technical environments; operating fabrication equipment, software applications, and digital tools; maintaining accurate student records.
- Best practices in CTE and project-based instruction; child development; differentiated instruction; behavioral and classroom management; safety regulations related to drones and fabrication tools.
- Adaptable, collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to create inclusive, engaging experiences for a diverse student population.
Responsibilities:
The employee works independently and collaboratively in varied educational settings. The employee provides high-quality, hands-on instruction that prepares students for certifications and real-world applications. The employee responds to emergencies and ensures a safe, engaging, and innovative learning environment.
- Administers subject-specific assessments and instructional activities to evaluate student competency, inform instruction, and support the creation of individualized learning plans.
- Advises parents/guardians of student progress and communicates expectations, achievement, and behavior to support reinforcement of classroom goals at home.
- Designs and delivers lessons integrating digital design, CAD software, multimedia editing tools, drone operation, laser cutters, and 3D printers.
- Attends work consistently to ensure instructional continuity and strong student engagement.
- Collaborates with colleagues in PLCs and cross-disciplinary teams to improve student outcomes and support school-wide initiatives.
- Coordinates field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on learning experiences relevant to media, technology, and maker education.
- Differentiates instruction for diverse learners and provides interventions aligned with IEPs, 504 plans, and other student needs.
- Mentors instructional aides, student teachers, and volunteers in implementing effective practices in a dynamic, tech-enabled classroom.
- Implements approved behavior and academic support plans, ensuring equity and compliance.
- Maintains safe learning spaces and manages student behavior using PBIS strategies and restorative practices.
- Model professionalism and ethical behavior in all employment and student interaction areas.
- Supervises students across various learning environments, including labs, hallways, and off-site learning locations.
- Participates in emergency drills and safety training; ensures preparedness and response compliance.
- Attends department, PLC, IEP/504, and committee meetings to communicate, coordinate, and align instruction.
- Documents student learning, attendance, certification progress, and outcomes using district-approved platforms.
- Promotes student engagement in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as SkillsUSA.
- Reports safety or well-being concerns according to district and state policy.
- Provides peer support and mentorship in instructional design and maker pedagogy.
Other Functions:
- Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the program and school site.
Work Environment:
Requires physical activity, including lifting, kneeling, or operating equipment. Must manage student behavior in labs or maker spaces and respond quickly to emergencies. Work is primarily indoors in classrooms, fabrication labs, and computer labs. |
