Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include translating written documents; operating standard office equipment and relevant software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic mathematics, including calculations involving fractions, percentages, and ratios; read a variety of manuals and other documents; write documents following prescribed formats; present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Description

The position of Instructional Assistant 1 / Special Education is responsible for supporting the instructional program, with specific duties including assisting with the instruction of students with disabilities; administering tests; performing clerical tasks; supervising students individually or in small groups; and providing limited instruction to students with disabilities.

This position is distinguished from similar positions by the following characteristics: the position does not require the applicant to meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements; the employee does not work independently but operates under the direction and supervision of a certified educator or program designee; and the employee serves as an instructional assistant who carries out program activities and assists students as directed.
